Phase 1. On-Line Self Study

Create an account so you can see your Self-Study material. To do that go to 

  • Click “Sign In” on the upper right corner of the screen.  
  • Select “Create a New Account” and complete the fields. 
  • Then Click “Sign Up”.

You have now created an account for the “I am for the child Academy”. This is the Florida Statewide Guardian Program training site-for both PRE-SERVICE and IN-SERVICE.

Once you create the account you will see 3 training programs: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, and Chapter 3.  Complete these 3 training sessions to complete Phase 1 of your training.

Phase 2. Two Days of Classroom Training

Phase 3. Short Field Supervision with Case Manager

​After you have completed Phase 2, you will have a short field supervision with your Case Manager. 

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Guardian ad Litem volunteer. 

​You must complete the following steps before you commence the three phases below. 

1 - Make an appointment for an in-office interview with one of our GAL staff. (561-355-6224).

2 - After the office interview, an application will be forwarded to you.

3 - As part of the application, you must provide three verifiable references.

4 - As part of the application, fingerprint and background clearances are required.

​Once these four steps have been satisfactorily completed, Phase 1 will begin.
